The hanakui-dori motif, featuring a bird holding a blooming branch in its beak, is a design once used in Shosoin patterns.
This symbolises the revival of life, and the bird, identified as the mythical phoenix (zuitcho) from ancient Chinese legends, represents an auspicious figure.
Traditionally used in highly formal fukuro obi, this pattern has been reimagined in a single colour with delicate detailing, making it suitable for casual enjoyment.
This item includes a stick and string for display.
Size: 87×30.5cm (not including fringes)
