Material: Silk
This is an item worn over the kimono called Haori.
The hand-painted work on the uneven of the fine, wave-like water ripples is a motif of Kabuki, which was popular during the Edo period (1600-1800).
The kimono patterns worn by actors were at the cutting edge of common people's trends.
This design, which is black with no background and only a Kabuki picture, is a valuable item that is difficult to find in modern times.
A black Haori can be worn over a kimono and used for formal occasions, but those with patterns like this one are more fashionable, but lower in class. Still, the author who wanted to include this pattern is probably a very fashionable person.
The lining and Haori strings are uniformly white.
A large fan is drawn on the ground pattern, which is a combination of straight lines called Sayagata. Fans are also called “Suehiro” and are a must-have item for auspicious occasions or tea ceremonies.
From this, you can imagine the thoughts behind the invisible lining.
This is the history of this kimono before they meet you.
Now they will make another history with you.
