Material: Silk
This kimono is a high-class obi called houmongi, and it is finished so that it looks like one picture when unfolded.
It depicts flowers swaying in the gentle flow of water.
What is depicted here are chrysanthemum flowers and hagi leaves, and Japanese people describe the way the flowers sway in the flowing water as a “flower raft.”
A raft is an ancient Japanese custom for transporting people and goods, and the idea of placing flowers on a raft can be considered Japanese elegance.
This is the history of this kimono before they meet you.
Now they will make another history with you.
