Material: Silk
It's like a jacket you wear to formal occasions.
It is usually worn over a plain kimono.
Usually there are no patterns, but as a playful touch, this artist puts a haze on the celebratory gold and silver branches and adds red to emphasize youthfulness.
This pattern is drawn not by hand but by weaving the fabric, so when you look at it closely, it has a three-dimensional effect and a heavy feeling. Hand-painted patterns are inferior to black backgrounds, but by weaving gold and silver threads, clear patterns can be expressed.
At the centre of the upper part of the back is a family crest, a kind of title that has been handed down to the family for generations. The name of this family crest is called "Hanabishi", and it is said that Takeda Shingen, a famous Sengoku warlord, used this crest habitually.
The value of this kimono is that this family crest is inserted using a technique called “Nukimon”. This “Nukimon” is the most high-class way to show the family crest, and to avoid dyeing only this family crest from the time the white fabric is dyed black, it can only be added if it is custom-made.
The inside of the kimono is made of fabric with a pattern of chrysanthemum flowers.
Both sides of the collar are called “haori strings”, which can be tied when worn and used as buttons or hooks.
From the fact that pink is used for the cord of this haori, it is thought that this haori was worn by a young lady in her thirties.
This is the history of this kimono before they meet you.
Now they will make another history with you.
