胸元に二つ、袖に二つ、背中心に一つ、合計五つの家紋が配された格式高い仕様となっています。
日本が長く鎖国政策をとっていた時代、長崎・出島など限られた場所でのみ海外との交易が許されていました。
当時の日本人にとって、初めて目にする異国の人々や、着物とは異なる衣服、珍しい品々は非常に印象的であったと考えられます。
その情景が細部まで丁寧に描かれており、当時としても大変価値の高い一着であったことがうかがえます。
家紋は三本松と呼ばれ、四国地方で多く見られる家紋です。

A vintage iro-tomesode, the highest-ranking formal kimono traditionally worn by married women.
Five family crests are placed across the chest, sleeves, and back, reflecting its highly formal status.
The detailed imagery is believed to depict the fascination Japan once held for foreign culture during the period of limited international trade.
The family crest is Sanbonmatsu, a motif of three aligned pine trees commonly seen in the Shikoku region.
